Part Time Retail Sales Associate

Good Decade – Sidney, BC

Do you love sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, or helping people discover their next creative project? Good Decade is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic part-time Retail Sales Associate to join our team.

We're more than just a fabric and yarn store, we're a creative community. Whether you're helping a beginner choose their first sewing project or assisting an experienced quilter find the perfect fabric, you'll play an important role in making every customer feel welcome and inspired.

What You'll Do

Customer Service

• Welcome every customer with a warm, friendly attitude.

• Provide exceptional customer service and create a positive shopping experience.

• Answer questions about fabrics, yarns, notions, general merchandise + classes. 

• Help customers choose products and offer project suggestions.

Sales & Merchandising

• Process customer purchases accurately using our point-of-sale system.

• Calculate yardage, cut fabric accurately, prepare kits, and assist with coordinating colors and textures.

• Restock merchandise and maintain attractive, organized displays.

• Assist with receiving inventory, pricing, and stocking new products.

• Help maintain seasonal displays and promotional areas.

Store Operations

• Keep the shop clean, organized, and inviting (sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, tidying product areas).

• Assist with opening and closing duties.

• Participate in inventory counts and stock organization.

• Help prepare online orders and in-store pickups when needed.

Teamwork

• Work collaboratively with a small, supportive team.

• Communicate effectively with coworkers and management.

• Be willing to learn new products and techniques as our inventory evolves.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Has a positive, outgoing personality.

• Enjoys working with people and providing outstanding customer service.

• Is reliable, organized, and able to multitask in a busy retail environment.

• Is comfortable using computers and learning new software.

• Can stand for extended periods and lift boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.

• Comfortable working independently.

• Is available to work weekends including sundays. Don’t apply if you can’t work sundays.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, or other fibre arts is required.

• Previous retail or customer service experience.

• Experience with Shopify or point-of-sale systems is an asset.
